Sketch is one of our best friends as designers. It’s the everyday tool I constantly keep open during the entire day. Being in the 47th version (at the time I’m writing this), a whole lot improved since its first days, but theres 1 thing I kind of wish that existed: a way to organize pages the same way we do with layers and groups. This is something that I feel the need for, because most of the times I work with large files with quite a few pages, and it can become a kind of a mess. Let’s get started!

Document pages in Sketch…

…Are great! It was one of the things I enjoyed the most when I made the switch from Photoshop to Sketch. The thing is, when I work with rather large documents with a decent amount of pages, things sometimes get a bit confusing. Here are 3 tricks you can use to solve this.

The “Regular” pages organization

#1 — Using spaces to build hierarchy

The first little trick I do is adding a few spaces before the page title in order to create some hierarchy

As you can see, we already have a much clear, organized view of our pages.

#2 — Using empty pages

Another trick that can improve your pages organization, is adding empty pages with a space as its name:

I don’t use this that much, but it might be useful for you!

#3 — Unleashing the power of system symbols

More specifically, the arrows. This is a trick Pedro Lança came up with and I ended up using it and loving it.

“CTRL + CMD + SPACE”

So, the idea here is to combine the spaces before the pages names, and adding an arrow before it. You’ll come up with something like this:

To make this quicker, I made a keyboard shortcut, so that when I type “->”, I’ll get the “↳” instead!

And that’s basically it! I surely find this pretty useful and it probably saves me some time while working in Sketch, so I hope this is useful for you as well!
