If you are a Graphic Designer, you may feel sometimes like a grain of sand on the beach. Being designer could be a lonely task, but the truth is that is not. Design is about community and collaboration. Here some tips for those designers who wants to rock in the design world.

No one teaches us to sell ourselves as a “brand”, yes, theoretically we are a brand. If you are walking your first steps, you may wonder how to stand out among thousands, millions of designers in the world, how companies are going to get to you, and how you are going to survive.
Calm down.

If you have chosen to be a designer, it is because you are curious, creative, empathetic, and surely you have internet.
Is really helpful to make contacts related to design and technology, exchange opinions, share links, help other people to solve problems, asking questions, write about design, go to design meetups, share and comment articles.
Feedback is the key.

Post your work in networks like Behance, Dribble, Medium, discuss about design, and stay open to constructive criticism.

Freelance, Freelance and Freelance, will give you training and you will generate a portfolio and gain contacts.

Build a good and clean portfolio, highlight your best pieces, those of which you feel proud and you can talk about. Make a linkedin profile, clear and concise, highlight your best skills and always be honest about yourself and your skills. Keep updated your posts, do not abandon the network. Connect with people from the business world, ask for advice. Write articles, (even if you are not a writer), express your thoughts, there will be always someone enjoying your lines.

Organize design meetings in your area, be in touch with other hosts, gather the designers community.

Accept your mistakes, and learn from them.

Stay updated to the latest design trends, study, read, explore, be curious (curiosity is the key to many doors), fail, learn and repeat.
Learning languages is also very important, breaking down language barriers will allow you freely communicating with people around the world.

You will still being a designer among millions, but you will get closer to other designers and opportunities.
