In this task, I have dived into https://dribbble.com/ and I have chosen two designs to analyze: The Creature Series 2 by Emrich Office, and Ui #1 by Vinli.

The first design is a serie of posters and the second one is an interface of a bank app. I have chosen these two because I think it is interesting to study the contrast between them, focusing in how they are conditioned by their purposes. In the one hand, the purpose of The Creature Series, as they are posters, is to be observed and to induce sensations to the observer and because of that, the graphics are very expressive. In the other hand, the first purpose of the app interface design is to boost the global goal of the app, what forces the designer to use a globally understandable language to make possible the users-apps interacting process.

Let’s analyze how the designers manage the resources availables to achieve its purposes.

The Creature Series 2 by Emrich Office

Although they are a three separately posters, they all use the same graphic language, what makes them have a set identity.

In respect of the use of the color the designer uses it to focus attention and create depth of field in the image: vivid colors bring things to the front and muted colors and lack of contrast take thing to the back of the image. I like how the designer uses and combines those vibrant and strident colors to “draw the panic”.

Regarding the image composition, there’s no regular order, elements seem to jump out of the image at once what emphasizes the panic feeling. There is a hierarchy between the different kinds of texts: the ones used for transmit the panic message which are bigger and bolder comes first, and the secondary texts.

In this design, as in the one before, there’s a set appearance. The goal in this app design case is to make easy to the user the use of the application.

The designer has used the color in the opposite way than in the case before. In this case the goal is to reach an harmonious environment in which the user feels comfy. The image is composed with clear and simple aligned forms, standardized texts with measured sizes, whites spaces and frames that allow the user to find easily what he needs.
