<h3>New year, new things</h3>
<p>The first month of 2018 is almost over, and because <a href="https://blog.prototypr.io/2017-a-year-with-big-changes-4ff8d07cee8b">I wrote in my 2017 year review</a> that I’ll try to challenge myself to write more this year, I thought that writing a monthly retrospective would be a good start. I have to admit I took the idea from <a href="https://hackernoon.com/@danielkorpai">Daniel Korpai</a> .</p>
<h4><strong><em>So here it is, the first one…</em></strong></h4>
<p>January, being the first month of the year, is somehow a struggle for me. After some days off for the winter holidays, it’s not that easy to start working again with all the pressure of a new year is ahead. I have to admit that I really wanted this month to be over; it was a long, long one.</p>
<h3><strong><em>Work, mentoring &amp; Design Snippet</em></strong></h3>

<p>In January I focused mainly on one project, <a href="https://dribbble.com/daniandor/projects/578651-Effective-experiments">Effective Experiments</a>. We are launching our new website in the next period, and we are working hardly on redesigning our app. On the app side, there are still a lot to work on, but hopefully with the latest adjustments things will work out much better.</p>

<p>Beside <a href="https://dribbble.com/daniandor/projects/578651-Effective-experiments">Effective Experiments</a>, I continued my work on <a href="https://dribbble.com/daniandor/projects/550831-Doky">Doky</a>’s mobile apps, with redesigning a mail and a chat app. Reusing some of the already created designs for desktop, this went pretty fast. I still need to finish some states and pages, but those shouldn’t be a big problem.</p>

<p>Another thing worth mentioning is that I finished my work on <a href="https://dribbble.com/shots/4003499-Platform-for-creating-claims">ClicRecours</a> for now, and they were very pleased with our collaboration.</p>
<p>Recently I managed to score my first mentoring session on <a href="https://www.rookieup.com/danielandor/">RookieUp</a> and now I work closely with Sebastian, helping him to revamp his portfolio with some great new projects. Also, I continue to do mentoring session on <a href="http://trydesignlab.com/">DesignLab</a> and I’m trying to help out some other junior designers that contacted me in the past year.</p>

<p>This month I also started to test and use <a href="http://www.fizzl.io/">fizzl.io</a>. If you are looking for a way to get user feedback on your designs, especially if you don’t want to annoy them to sign up to various platforms then I highly recommend it. Oh, and thanks for the letter, Zander :).</p>

<p>One thing that was postponed for a couple of months now is my portfolio. But this month, I managed to send it out to development, so hopefully that will be up and running in the following weeks.</p>
<p>Another surprising fact was that this month I got accepted on <a href="https://workingnotworking.com/notifications">workingnotworking.com.</a> I applied there some time ago, so it’s nice to know that in the end I managed to get in.</p>
<p>Going through projects and talking with mentees it struck me that I forgot some of the stuff I learned a while ago, so I revisited some of the lessons from <a href="https://www.udemy.com/ultimate-guide-to-ux/">User Experience (UX): The Ultimate Guide to Usability and UX by David Travis</a>. If you are searching for a great course on UX, I highly recommend this one.</p>
<h4>Design Snippet</h4>
<p>On the <a href="http://designsnippet.com/">Design Snippet</a> side, I sent out three newsletters this month. There is still a lot to work on, so if anybody has any good advice / idea on that one, it’s more than welcomed, you can contact me anytime.</p>
