There are many school of thought on the process how Human Centric Design Solutions should be conducted or created, for me after having the fortune talking to various multiple industry seniors, I have managed to interpret it into a “ghetto process” visually using my limited scope of knowledge at this point of time what an ideal process would be with persona as the main driver.

*But there is another entire different school of thought that is JTBD.

Step 1. Understanding

Observing candidates (users) in their natural environment how they interact and process the world around them, allows the interviewer to understand the in context candidates (users) living their life daily. At times engaging actively with the candidates in their environment collecting insights on what drives them to behaviour or action in a certain manner, was it due to a pressing pain point or the pleasure derive from it along the context of it.

From better understanding the candidates (users), are we better able to discover insights of the problems candidates (users) face.

Step 2. Insights

By finessing the various data uncovered prior, affinity diagramming process is use in consolidating and finessing the various candidates (users) pain points, behaviours, pleasure points and context, along their emotional drivers with the use of empathy mapping to create connotations between candidates (users) to the situation where the issues they face arises.

Leading to the creation of Persona (a consolidation of all candidates (users) data on the basic drivers relating to user behaviours, pain points, pleasure points, context) which can be use further for Segmentation (specific target market).

From the insights gain we are better informed to ideating a robust solution that better relates to the problems we are seeking to solve. At the same time create a holistic solution that is commercially viable along how it could be market as a product/service.

Step 3 and 4. Ideation and Prototype

Using the Persona / Segmentation created, a Customer Journey Mapping or Service Design blueprint could be created, where various insights and opportunities could be uncovered as it shows how the Persona behaves and interact base on certain situations it is placed in.

Making the idea tangible by creating a MVP prototype / solution during ideation, and conducting usability testing with candidates (users) from ideation thru to prototype.

Ensuring the delivery of a robust viable solution that has been trial and tested, as the idea has been repeatedly iterated and improved base on the findings discovered during usability testing.

Repeat from Step 1 to 4 consistently

Yes. Repeat the steps consistently when possible, as User Centric Design solutions will never stay constant. There will always be a need to relook at the solution ever once in the while as users behaviours, pains, pleasures and context will always evolve and change due to the environment or situation they will be in.
