<p>A couple months ago we set out to create a color tool that we’d want to use ourselves without having to use multiple different tools to complete our tasks. It’s a running joke that there are way too many color apps out there and more coming out almost every other week #colorappnumber1000. The idea of competing with products that have been around in the space for a while is daunting but we decided we would take on the challenge and start our journey to creating the perfect color app anyway🔥.</p>
<h3>What is HueSnap?</h3>
<p><a href="http://www.huesnap.com">HueSnap</a> is a color sharing community for creatives focused on allowing users to create palettes through snapping colors from images. It makes it easy for you to grab the color codes to be used in your projects as well as modify existing palettes to be re-shared as new palettes.</p>
<p>In order to push out an MVP or <a href="https://medium.com/swlh/the-mvp-is-dead-long-life-to-the-map-minimum-awesome-product-404df90fef7f">MAP (Minimum Awesome Product, article written by </a><a href="https://medium.com/u/7aacdb400e1">Carlos Beneyto</a><a href="https://medium.com/swlh/the-mvp-is-dead-long-life-to-the-map-minimum-awesome-product-404df90fef7f">)</a>, we opt’ed to go with a web-app approach making it accessible to everyone with internet access from the get-go vs trying to hit one platform first over the other (iOS vs Android).</p>
<p>HueSnap was designed with the focus of mobile usage and is currently best viewed on mobile but we’re redesigning desktop to be it’s own interface and experience.</p>
<h3>Feed View</h3>

<p>The default view for users is the Explore Feed, which showcases palettes submitted by both other users and themselves. A palette can consist of anywhere from a single color to a maximum of 6 colors. There is also a My Palettes Feed that showcases your collection of palettes (those which you have created or liked). When you’re in your Palettes Feed, the name of the palettes will be displayed instead of the number of likes you would see on the Explore Feed.</p>
<h3>Snap Interface</h3>

<p>The Snap Interface allows users to take a photo (mobile only) or upload an image (both mobile and desktop) to snap colors to create a palette. Users are able to change a selected color to another shade or remove the color before saving it as a palette.</p>
<h3>Color Card</h3>

<p>The color card shows the information of a palette with selected color codes such as the HEX, RGB, CMYK, HSV, and HSL.</p>
<p>Color-schemes such as Shades, Analogous, Complementary, Compound, Monochromatic and Triad are also shown, and users are able to select colors from these schemes to modify a palette. Users are able to reset changes made to the palette, save as a new palette, or save over the existing palette (if it is their own palette).</p>
<h3>What’s next?</h3>
<p>This post has been written to quickly show you what HueSnap is all about. We’re now publicly launched and we’ve been getting it into the hands of users like you so we can hear more about how we can improve on it to make it something you would love to use 👊 (on our road to the perfect color app).</p>
