A new way to learn today’s skills here on Medium

Over the past few months, I have prowled every corner of Medium in search for content to help me learn UX Design. I’ve spent countless hours reading about people’s projects, watching tutorials and doing my own side projects. The goal was to learn a new skill, and turn it into a full-time job — which I managed to do. I’ve been glued to content from people like Marc Andreessen, Julie Zhuo, Flinto, prototypr.io and the like. It’s helped me become the designer that I am today. But this whole process of learning left much to be desired.

It was frustrating to have to learn in such a fragmented way. Constantly bookmarking and saving stories from all over the place takes its toll. The other option was to pay for premium courses, which I also tried. But in the end, I realized that there’s no substitute for doing it on your own. There had to be an easier way. That’s why I decided to launch Project Ello: a new publication on Medium to centralize learning:

Ello was born out of the desire to provide a one stop shop for people to learn new skills. Aside from posting our own content, we’ll also be curating related content from around the web by hand. And best of all, it’s free.

I set up ello with the help of a few designer friends who like to write here on Medium. Over the course of the coming weeks, we’ll be publishing our first series — “Introduction to User Experience Design”. This multi part series will take you through the world of UX and give you tips and resources to dive deeper on your own. You can check out the first post in that series here:
