Everybody uses music in their own way, but we really love using it for inspiration. We have so much music available at the touch of a screen, but all of us have faced that inevitable time when they can’t find good, new music. That’s why we created the Pantune Playlists Project. What is this?

We’re not really sure either, but we needed some new music for inspiration around the office! So we made 4 Spotify playlists based on the colors in the DKTB color palette and we want you to suggest some songs for each to help us build the raddest playlists around for all of us to discover and enjoy. We have no idea what they are going to be, but we think it sounds fun. Whatever songs you think seem appropriate for the 4 colors, it’s your call. We’re open to hit songs, classics, but we really love obscure, lesser known artists.

Why is it called Pantune Playlists?

Because everyone likes good tunes. Our playlists happen to be inspired by Pantone colors. Pantone + Tunes = Pantunes

What is a Pantone color?

Pantone is a color system developed to maintain consistency while printing on almost any surface. Most colors have a Pantone equivalent. Each of our four brand colors (Blue, Yellow, Orange and Red) have a corresponding Pantone color code, which is the name of the playlist associated with that color. Confused? That’s alright. Just roll with it. You can help us out by suggesting songs and sharing this with your friends.

Will I be able to buy these?

You don’t need to. Plus, getting clearances from the labels for all of the songs would be virtually impossible. Not to mention vinyls can’t hold as many songs as we’re going to need. Enter technology. We have setup the playlists so that you can save and listen to them for free on Spotify wherever and whenever you want! Still want the set of the vinyls and covers to add to your collection at home? Send us a message and we’ll see what we can cook up for you. Maybe we can get a limited edition pressing with select songs if there’s enough interest.

What’s the song in the video?

The soundtrack used in the Pantune Playlists promo video is ‘Fucked Up World’ by The Motor Tom. It will be available on their debut album, Super Sexy Space Station, dropping sometime in early 2018. These fellas are amazing. This New York-based band has an incredible sound that evokes a feeling of nostalgia while keeping it funky, fresh and freakin’ great. Their debut single, Left Out, is currently available on Spotify. I’ve had a sneak peak of their entire album and I can confirm, it’s an instant classic. Keep your eye on these guys.

Who produced the video?

We did! It was produced, art directed and fine tuned here at DKTB HQ. We utilized the help of some talented videographers, magicians and the amazing Anthony Boyd, proving that a massive budget isn’t paramount for a successful campaign, but it sure can help. Let us know what you think!
