Music app industry is one of the diverse industry in today’s market having evaluation in billions.

During late-90s music industry revenues were cut in half, thanks to the demise of overpriced cd’s . Certainly after a period of time music app industry took the pitch over the cd’s and take over the market in a very short span of time. Also time spent on music apps outpaces all the categories — even social networking which clocks in at 63 minutes per month according to survey.

Music is the universal language that connects every single person, it can be an emotional feeling you get after listening to a particular song or the motivation that drives you towards your goal. Music is the only the thing that has power to change the current state of mind in the way you want .

In today’s time, the medium through which we connect to music is through the music apps and, I feel it should be interactive, simple and should have a smooth user experience.

So, here is my small case study on my music app mockup called Wuchan

1. Fresh Side Menu Bar

In most of the every app in today market you’ll find that the “ sliding menu “ is always there. I am really get drill of it, so i frame small rectangular slider menu on header which looks more simple and interactive.

2. Mood Bar

This is the feature that i personally want in music app industry

Why Mood Bar ?

Most of the time we listen to songs according to our current mood. Though every person has listened to thousands of songs, our brain separates the songs based on the genre.

Almost every time you noticed the song which you listen in evening may not be the same in morning because you listen soothing songs in the dawn than dusk.

The choice of songs differ from one person to another.

How does the mood bar work ?

When you click on the mood bar icon, what it does is, reads your history, playlist and the current time. And it displays the songs accordingly. Here is the example of how it will look.

3. Music Player

This is the essential part of the music apps. Usually in most music apps the layout of music player consists of a rectangular cover picture in the center, name of the particular song, album name, forward-backward arrow and a lyrics bar.

To increase the connectivity, I’ve added a cover picture in the background and slightly tilted the arrows to 45 degrees, changed the font size and finally a small pop-up for lyrics just slides up where you can see the lyrics of the current song.

4. Browsing Section

The browsing section has different options such as trending , live concerts, live podcasts and charts. So you can directly watch the concerts, listen to podcasts and do many more.

The layout design for this section is inspired from flipboard app
