Notes: Writing to think

Over the last few years, I've found myself writing less on the web. Post views, likes, and follower counts seem to encourage content produced primarily for engagement. AI tools then accelerate that same content type, so everything starts looking the same.

Maybe that's just social media, but writing doesn't feel like thinking when I write for engagement. Neither does reading those posts. Since the rise of the 'creator economy' and AI, it feels like there's more noise, and a pressure rumbling in the background to generate numbers with each post.

Writing doesn't feel like thinking when I write for engagement.

As people work out ways to increase engagement with the changing social algorithms, I notice more focus on that very topic too with posts like 'how to grow on this', or 'how to get followers on that'.

Writing for the thinking, not for the likes

With all that noise, I wanted a place just to blog again, where I could develop thoughts and focus better. So this it is, you're reading it! I added a new post type on Prototypr simply called a 'Note'. Now I have a place where I can just write to think 💭
