A new chrome for better collaboration and sharing with context | Framer.com

Sharing, now with a better interface. Today we’re launching the next installment of Framer Cloud, designed to improve collaboration and context. The updated chrome offers all your favorite Cloud features, with a layout that is much more conducive to your design work. The primary goal of this design was to provide a sharing interface that aided, rather than obscured, your prototype. Instead of hovering in the top left corner, the new sharing chrome is now a permanent sidebar. It is completely dynamic — on smaller screens, it switches to a compact version, or hides completely if there is less space. The result is a contextual chrome that serves as the perfect companion to your project.

Seen Status & Version History

But the changes are more than skin deep. This new version of Framer Cloud comes with better support for collaborative work. Just sent out an update? The new sidebar not only shows invited members of your project, but also notes if individual members have viewed the latest updates. It’s now that much easier to get the feedback you need to do your best work. Viewers can also browse through previous project versions and open each one right in the browser. This feature was previously available only to Cloud users but in this update, we’ve made it accessible to all viewers. The control is still in your hands— determine who gets viewing privileges and what project history is displayed, all from your handy Dashboard.

Benefits for Cloud Users

As an existing Cloud user, you will also notice easy navigation to open up your Dashboard from the sharing chrome. Enterprise plan customers can also get the extra benefit of custom branding, which allows them to offer internal teams and external clients a trusted and secure environment for viewing top secret prototypes.

All Cloud projects, existing and new, will automatically sport the new sidebar. Projects that were shared before the introduction of Cloud can easily be downloaded and re-shared using the Cloud button in Framer. This will automatically update their sharing chrome.

Full transparency: Cloud Access is still in Beta. Though your private projects will always remain private, we will continue to make improvements to the service. Cloud Access is part of our ongoing endeavor to build the ultimate workflow for designers. Got feedback or a pressing feature request? Drop us a line via Facebook or Twitter.
